For the last two years I have been focused on completing my Masters in Contemporary Dance Choreography at York University. It was quite the feat. I choreographed solos, duets, and group pieces, I worked as a teaching assistant, I wrote extensively about my physical practice, and I presented at conferences for both artists and academics. My hard work paid off and I was offered a summer course at the university. These two years encompass some of the most rewarding moments of my life.
While working creatively as a choreographer is stimulating and refreshing, I reflect most on my renewed love for teaching. The more knowledge I gain, the more I get the urge to share. Facilitating learning and modelling teaching to young leaders are two skills I have always taken great pride in. This year I am ready to give back to the community and find opportunities to inspire others.
