A Toronto native, Vanessa is a graduate of both Education and Dance at York University. She wanted more. She completed her MFA - Master's in Dance: Choreography and Performance, also at York University.  As a teacher, Vanessa has developed and implemented curriculums for students at York University (Dance Elective courses; Fine Arts Summer Institute), creative arts pre-schools, as well as TDSB schools across Toronto (independently; Kaeja D'Dance; The Royal Conservatory of Music; Rhythmworks).

Vanessa’s intensive training in hip hop, house, and contemporary dance have given a unique perspective and edge to her choreography.  With many years of experience teaching a wide range of levels and ages, Vanessa has the ability to read a class and adjust material accordingly, allowing each student to have fun and still be challenged. Her progressive pedagogical approach encourages students to set independent goals throughout their training, promoting a strong work ethic, confidence, and self-motivation. Vanessa specializes in employing teaching methods that breakdown movement to their essentials, truly helping students to understand their own bodies and progress towards discovering a personal style of their own.

Vanessa is a member of Warehouse Jacks - a house dance crew representing Toronto. Funded by the Toronto Arts Council, Vanessa was invited to Dublin, Ireland to perform in Janis Claxton’s Sweet Love. She continues to create work, often working with dancers Danielle Baskerville, Bee Pallomina, Kate Nankervis, Emily Law, Troy Sexton, and multi-disciplinary artists Tyler Sammy and Darlene Huyhn.
